Was Obama's ';lipstick on a pig'; a sign of desperation?

This was obviously a reference to Sarah Palin.

“You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig” -- Barack Obama, 9/9/2008 Was Obama's ';lipstick on a pig'; a sign of desperation?
He'll pay with a few hundred thousand more votes for that one. Was Obama's ';lipstick on a pig'; a sign of desperation?
Barack Obama is desperate because he knows they will lose to McCain this November.

If Sarah Palin is a Pig according to Obama, then how will he compare his wife Michelle to an animal. Could it be Michelle Obama looks like a Hippopotamus or Orangutan with or without lipstick?

Obama insulted also all the hockey moms in this country as pigsby pertaining to them as PIGS. Sarah Palin was only comparing herself and other hockey moms to a pitbull with lipstick because they tend to be tough moms.

Obama Loser. You look gay attacking a woman. SarahPalin is not running for President and you have the guts to attack her personality. Why dont you ask Biden to do the attacking so you could look manly enough.
It was a reference to Palin's policy not being different then GW Bush. The expression is also phrase as ';you can put pearls on swine, but in the end, it's still a pig. It's not in reference to women. I'm not sure how you think it was ';obviously'; a reference to Sarah Palin. Men are referred to as pigs more often then women.
No. Don't be so stupid.

Obama called McCain's policies a pig (not that Sara Palin isn't the ';Pork Queen of Wasilla';)and the fact that they are MORE OF THE SAME means he's just dolled it up with lipstick.

The video is below and you can see it yourself. The news shows are just hyping their ratings. They've been at it all day.

BTW, John McCain said EXACTLY THE SAME THING about Hillary Clinton during the primaries:

Start quote from last October:

';McCain criticized Democratic contenders for offering what he called costly universal health care proposals that require too much government regulation. While he said he had not studied Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton's health-care plan, he said it was ';eerily reminiscent'; of the failed plan she offered as first lady in the early 1990s. ';I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig,'; he said of her proposal.

End of quote

Seems to me quite a few women are taking exception to his statement. I guess Obama has decided that if you are a woman and Palin was not able to pull you over to McCain's side, he is going to push you.

This man does not do well under pressure. Is it any surprise? He has never been tested. Now, the going is a little tough and we see what he is made of.

He burned his bridges with Hillary and we if we know anything about Hillary we know she is way too politically savvy to attack Sarah Palin personally. His attack dog, Joe Biden, has been neutered by Palin. Now he hires an army of over 30 lawyers to decend on Juno, Anchorage and Wisala Alaska to go over every document and interview every disgruntled person to find some way to smear Sarah Palin.

Whatever happened to the Obama that was above all that? The one who criticized Hillary for ';personal attacks';?

What about if it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, smells like a duck, then it's a duck. Would he be in trouble for referring to her as a duck? Besides, Obama is more for women's rights and such than Palin is. Women need to see that.

Besides, I might mention that while I lived in Alaska, she tried playing her little hockey mom BS also. turns out that when she was asked about her kid's hockey team name, she couldn't tell you what the name was. She's a fake, more interested in her own power than her country or even her family.
I give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't mean it to apply to Governor Palin. But, the audience reacted loudly by clapping and cheering to what he was saying before he finished the statement. They inferred that he was referring to the Governor. In either case, he was either a fool to say something so disgusting about his opponent, or his is beyond clueless not to pick up on the audience's reaction and not to understand that he said something provocative. So, in either case, he is a very foolish, inarticulate man. Who in their right mind would vote for such a poor excuse for a candidate?
Wow, no... again. How many times are people going to wrongly accuse Obama of calling Palin a pig? He did not.

The pig metaphor was in reference to her record, that she may doll it up and say she's just like McCain, even though she accepted $27 million in earmarks for her town alone and was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it amongst other things.

Obama didn't call her a pig lol.
Poor cons.

You have no good ideas about what to do about the mess you got us into on Iraq, energy, women's issues, healthcare and the economy. So you take the lead from Iran and do a ';photoshop'; chop job (in this case an audio edit taking Obama's words out of context) to try to fool us unwashed masses.

Do we have to put up with this kind of smear campaign we get every 4 years from the Republican dirty tricks and slime machine? Nixon did it with Watergate. The apple obviously doesn't fall far from the tree.

We won't get conned again!

Obama/Biden '08 -- Change we can believe in from honest patriots.
No, he was quoting John McCain. McCain has used the phrase too, in reference to Hillary. If you expect an apology from Obama, then McCain needs to apologize first.

';I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig,'; he said ...

With respect to all the responses so far on this blog, the best comment I can make is a kindergarten schoolyard remark: ';She started it!'; With her speech last week, and her disparaging remarks about Obama and community organizers, she has set the tone for the contest for the remainder of October and November. The sad thing is that the day after the election, none of these silly back-and-forth comments and accusations will matter any more. Then it will be all about the issues, and policies, and the mess the next president inherits from the current one.
Just like you can put a new coat on a thief, but he is still a thief. Yes, I am referring to the next selection....just because Barack claims to be ';one of us, the people'; and just because he a member of a minority in this country, he is still a just a politician. Talk about desperate! He just shot himself in the foot without realizing it. Because both he and Palin are politicians....so whats the point?
Oh, he just thinks he's so funny... %26amp; he'll deny it but it's a classic put down technique. Mention a derogatory term in a simple, true statement. Like switch pig with pitbull. The implication is clear. Obama has a history of doing that %26amp; I think it shows what he really thinks, like when he said to OReilly that ';the American people are not stupid'; Whoever said they were Barry?
It was obviously nothing of the sort unless you have descended into deeply delusional paranoid thinking.

However, I suppose if you are unable to discuss real issues that might really matter to the well being of the country this is the kind of stuff you will come up with.
There’s no way that McCain is dumb enough to believe that Obama was referring to Palin with the lipstick comment.

The only other explanation for his reaction is that he thinks Americans ARE dumb enough to believe it.

Talk about insulting!

Another nail in the coffin of his political future.

Yes he's desperate.

AND

You can stick a fork in him on this one.

He's done.

My wife, the lifelong Demoncrat literally exploded when she heard this and again when she saw it.
please obama supporters, the truth is the truth and obama must to say: ';I'm sorry for my misogynous words';. It's obvious.

Some things are more importants than the support for a politic.
Yes, and I can not believe all the so called feminist who truly believe in women breaking through the glass ceiling just standing by and watching Obama and others in the democratic party trying to demoralize this woman. Un-freakin-believable!
Is the GOP, who is trying to twist and turn words into something it's not the sign of desperation. That's one of the oldest sayings in the book. Nice try, Cons get an A for effort.
Yes. I know I don't want my president to stoop that low and talk that way. That can only erode the moral fiber of the country and make it seem OK to do that.

McCain/Palin 08.
Nonsense.

It is a well known phrase that has been around many years.

Here is a website that will document some known uses of this phrase.

Absolutely. He is running scared at this point and he's going to continue to put his foot in his mouth as he gets more and more frustrated. This election has already been won by McCain and Palin.
He said he likes Eskimoe Pie too.L.OL.Her husband is half eskimoe ,and you know that he and Larry sinclair did the Cream pie thing after that Coke bender.
i still can't believe he said that. what was his excuse? that he really wasn't talking about sara palin, just using it as an example? he is a scum bag.
She opened that door when she made the analogy between a pit bull and a hockey mom.

That said, it was still an incredibly stupid thing for Obama to say.
No, it was a reference to Jimmy Carter; arguably the worst of all American Presidents.
The quote is… “You can put lipstick on a pig, It's still a pig.” I didn’t know Obama wore lipstick.
You can measure a man by the words he says, and that said a hell of a lot about Barrack Obama.
No.

But your Y/Q nick-name is sure a desperation and or cry for desperation.

because you clearly know nothing about Obama and carter.

McBUSH is Bush's THIRD term.
Palin called herself a dog. Why are getting your panties in a bunch? Man up and stop being so sensitive like a little girl! Obama didn't called her a pig. Stop lying! (=
No, it was inaccurate, she's moose or like she said a female dog.
